The
PUP-San Juan Campus together with The Kapatirang Claretiano, Inc. has partnered
with the Philippine Red Cross in a bloodletting activity last September 27,
2013 in PUP-San Juan Campus, San Juan Manila.
The staff,
professors, students and members of partnered organizations (e.g. KCI) took
part in donating blood. KCI supports bloodletting activities
because it is good for the health of the person donating blood and the
recipient of blood.
Research discovered donating blood could help reduce the
risk of heart attacks and cancer.
It has this affect by reducing iron levels, which can
thicken blood and increase free-radical damage.
Beneficial for weight watchers too as people burn 650
calories with every pint donated.
KCI also supports
this activity as it ensures healthy and hefty supply of blood. “A blood donation truly is a
“gift of life” that a healthy individual can give to others who are sick or injured.”
